ARCS members spent a wonderful April afternoon learning about the science of cider making – and savoring the handcrafted hard cider - at the UrbanTree Cidery in West Midtown. UrbanTree Cidery is the first farm-to-table cidery in Atlanta, making cider from apples harvested and hand-pressed in North Georgia. The cider is then transported to the UrbanTree Cidery in West Midtown for onsite fermentation, blending, aging, infusion, and carbonation. Each cider recipe has been perfected over time, and ARCS members enjoyed tasting many different flavors, including Original Dry, Barrel-Aged, Blueberry, Lavendar-Lemon, and many others. What could be more enjoyable than connecting with friends through the delicious complexity of science and cider!

Thank you very much for your support. It meant a lot. I had the opportunity to return to Tech as a faculty member last year. I’m very happy to be back and hope I can advise a future ARCS scholar soon!
Thanks from Scholar Laura Redmond
"I want to thank you again for supporting my career development, and I look forward to encouraging the development of future scientists as an ARCS Scholar Alum."
Thanks from Alum Tim Sampson, Postdoctoral Scholar at Caltech
I am immensely grateful to the ARCS Foundation and Turner Enterprises for making my award possible. I am honored to have been part of the talented and promising group of young researchers from the Atlanta-area!
